Our commitmenet

To Our People

Company Culture

We are a women-founded small business with an intentional culture of individual empowerment and self-startership. In everything we do, from our customer service to carpentry, we are intentional to create a culture that reflects our mission to further change and bring joy to the lives of customers. It’s through this core value that we create thoughtful pieces that allow them to see their brands, events, and special moments come to life.

Employee Commitment

Our employees are our biggest asset. From our office workers to our skilled craftspeople, we offer full-time salaries for all of our employees to enjoy the security and benefits of steady paychecks. Every employee who works at Skyline earns above a living wage and has access to benefits such as:

  • 100% paid healthcare
  • Maternity or paternity coverage
  • Paid vacation and sick leave
  • Financial bonuses
  • Flexible work schedules

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Within our workplace, Skyline Laser Co. strives to foster a culture in which all individuals are treated fairly and respectfully, have equitable access to opportunities and resources, and can contribute fully to the organization’s success.

These same values reflect across our diverse and inclusive customer base, in which we are committed to serve all individuals across an endless spectrum of demographic and philosophical differences. From your very first interaction with us, our customer experience specialist will promote creative exploration of everyone’s ideas in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. We recognize that each person needs something different to succeed and to reach their own purpose, values, and goals with our products. We NEVER create signs that promote messages of hate.

Supporting Small Businesses

As a small business, we get it– it’s not always easy. The past years have brought hardships that small businesses have never experienced before. That is why supporting our local community and fellow small businesses has become keystone to our core ethos.

At the start of the pandemic, we launched a give-back campaign to make free signs to businesses who were hurting. When Philadelphia shut down for indoor activities, we did it again– this time, focusing on our neighbors in need. We’ve also supported our community with in-kind donations to charitable events centered around youth sports and pediatric cancer, such as the Still Strong FoundationTee off for Tripp.

We recognize that it is a small gesture, but one that can bring some sunshine in otherwise dark moments. That is why we are committed to launching these campaigns into the future and ensure our community and small businesses continue to thrive.

To Our Planet

Design Philosophy

Each sign is thoughtfully designed, curated, and crafted to harmoniously pair visual aesthetic with function. We are in constant search of the most eco-conscious materials to incorporate into our processes, without sacrificing the quality and longevity that our customers have come to expect from Skyline Laser Co. products. It is our ultimate goal to keep pieces on your walls – and out of landfills – now and in the future.

That is also why every Skyline Laser Co. product comes with a lifetime guarantee. If you find our signs don’t live up to your durability standards, we promise to repair or replace it, at any point, absolutely for free.

Materials & Packaging

Our wooden backings come from Birch trees. Compared to other hardwoods, their abundance and speedy growth rate means that it causes minimal impact when harvested. Our wood is specially sourced from a 100% Forest Stewardship Council certified vendor located within a 100 mile radius to reduce our carbon footprint.

Our finer wooden detailing is constructed using medium-density fireboard (MDF). This  composite material is constructed primarily from residual wood fibers, meaning that leftover wood shavings that might normally be discarded are instead repurposed and recycled. MDF is fully biodegradable and made with no harsh processes, allowing Skyline Laser Co. to put less strain on our forests, waterways, and landfills.

Our colored wood and acrylic pieces all come custom hand painted using zero VOC paints, as to avoid using pre-colored materials made with harmful coloring processes and reduce the amount of leftover materials on each project. For our stained woods, we opt for low VOC water-based stains whenever possible.

After much love and labor, our Skyline Laser Co. packages arrive to our happy customers in cardboard boxes sealed with paper-based tape. Signs are carefully wrapped eco-friendly bubble wrap and stuffed, when possible, with gently used fill that we have repurposed from our inbound shipments.

Reducing Waste

For all materials we use, our laser team has become a crew of Tetris experts over the years, always finding new ways to interconnect the letters, lines, and logos to cover every square inch of material possible. It’s admittedly becoming a bit of an obsession for us. But hey, obsessions that help the planet have to be healthy, right?

The residual material that is left behind each day is saved for new projects or sorted out for recycling when possible. As a further step to keep our leftovers out of landfills and recycling facilities altogether, we are continually ideating ways to better upcycle – or creatively reuse and transform– our scraps.
